PARTS COUNTERPERSON
MPG is a diversified cooperative serving the needs of agricultural and resource-based industries in our surrounding communities since 1932. We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Parts Counterperson to join our MPG Truck and Tractor Division in Presque Isle, Maine.
A Parts Counterperson's job involves helping run a dealership's parts department, focusing on inventory management, customer service for farmers needing parts, processing orders, coordinating with service teams, and ensuring efficient operations, requiring strong agricultural knowledge, organization, and communication skills for a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Key responsibilities include stock control, handling parts lookups, and maintaining a safe, friendly workplace for internal and external customers.
Key Responsibilities
◦ Customer Service: Help farmers and technicians find the right parts for equipment, answer inquiries, and provide support for parts-related issues.
◦ Inventory & Operations: Assist in managing parts inventory, stocking shelves, processing orders, checking in shipments, and maintaining an organized parts department.
◦ Sales Support: Perform counter sales, assist with parts sales to the service department, and handle returns.
◦ Compliance: Ensure safety protocols and procedures are followed in the parts department.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
◦ Agricultural Knowledge: Familiarity with farm equipment, agricultural machinery, and the needs of farmers.
◦ Customer Service: Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
◦ Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage inventory, process orders, and maintain detailed records.
◦ Technical Aptitude: Resourcefulness in using parts manuals and manufacturer resources.
◦ Experience: Parts or heavy equipment experience in agriculture or automotive fields is often preferred.
Requirements:
◦ Forklift experience (certification a plus)
◦ Ability to lift and move up to 50 lb. regularly
◦ Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
